Change Unity AD Domain

Unity 4.0(4), UM, Member Server of domain....we are changing the domain of the Unity server and Exchange Partner server. Opened a TAC case and they said we could add the Unity server to the new domain, and then just run the DC/GC Reconnect tool in the depot. Is this a new supported route? In the past you to re-install Unity.

TIA,

Andy

Ahhh no. Good thing you got a second opinion.

You need to backup with DiRT, reinstall Unity in the new domain and then restore with DiRT. I did a bunch of the design for that tool, it won't be able to help you migrate domains, trust me. :-)

Please send me the case number. kechambe@cisco.com

Thanks,

Keith

Similar situation....

1. I should just be able to backup with DirT

2. Use the Uninstall Utility to remove Unity from existing domain

3. Join Unity to new domain

4. Re-run setup

5. Run Dirt restore

This just saves me from having to rebuild the OS, SQL, etc.

Has anyone else had success with this method?

Hi -

Just my opinion, after running the Unity uninstall in a lab environent. The Unity uninstall does not delete everything and you may need to do some cleanup. Everything I've read, including the Unity Reconfiguration Guide for moving Unity to new domain or renaming the server includes reinstalling the OS, et all before installing Unity. I would check with your Cisco SE or TAC to make sure what you are proposing will be supported. May be OK, but I'd want to check.
