A technical/business explanation of why something sopped being supported, is not something that can be discussed at CSC, you'd need to engage your SE/AM for that.
And what you're asking about modifying the DB to manually add support for a device/product, might be technically feasible, but that's far deep into the unsupported territory. I'm guessing it's not as simple as just changing the product name, there are a lot of dependencies.
