Is alternate extension a preferred or cisco recommended solution for Unity Connection

It is a recommended solution for certain scenarios. For example, you can define your mobile phone as an alternate extension so you do not have to enter your extension when checking voicemail from your mobile phone. It can also be useful when two phones are sharing one voicemail box. There are many other possibilities. These are a couple of examples.
