Configuring non-ILS joined CUCM to existing ILS infrastructure

Good afternoon all,

I am building a Call Manager version12.5 and trying to integrate it into an existing ILS infrastructure all with the same version as mine.  I am wondering if it is possible to integrate the new Call Manager with the existing ILS infrastructure without joining it to the ILS infrastructure.  I can make external calls (outside of my new call manager), however I can't receive calls back in to my Call Manager through the ILS infrastructure.  I am assuming it has to do with how the upstream Call Manager I'm connecting to has its SIP trunk set up pointed towards me.  Just so you are aware of the system flow it goes as follows:

new Call Manager>Upstream Call Manager (Existing ILS infrastructure)>outbound destination

Any and all input would be much appreciated!

ILS is just a means to carry information across different CMs, for example SIP uri information or GDPR updates. If not wanted to be used you would still be able to send calls between your CMs, it’s just a matter of static configuration. Important to understand is that to send calls between the CMs via ILS learned information it uses SIP route patterns, whereas other static configuration would normally be regular route patterns.

May I ask what is the reason for why you don’t want to add the new CM to ILS?
