How does someone size the number of approx. licenses needed to apply on a cube for the SIP trunk? Is there historical reporting someone can run to get the number of SIP concurrent sessions happened through a given time?
Or does someone does someone rely on a cube going into out of compliance that gets generated every time the cube calls home?
Is the license per session or per call leg?
One call does it equal two licenses?

In newer versions of IOS the router uses pooled licenses in Smart Licensing, so you don’t need to specify any specific number of licenses used in the router itself.
The license is per call, not per call leg.

nice to know thank you. On this existing environment I am working you are saying just remove:
mode border-element license capacity ###
from the config and the cubes registered in smartnet will just use a pool? if so, that is a better method. Someone pre-allocated a set number of licenses on the cubes.

No that’s not what I said. If you have to set a number on that command you’re not running a new enough version to use license pooling. Also SmartNet has nothing to do with licensing, that’s a support program.
