CUCM 10.5 NTP Server Change - Service Impacting?

I have to replace the NTP server configured on a CUCM 10.5 server. I understand that this will require restarting the NTP service. Does anybody know if restarting causes a service impact (including the phones themselves that are registered). I read something about NTP for device pools will restart the phones but wasn't sure if this is related.

Also, we have an on prem PLM server that is hosted on a different VM (the CUCM server is a VM as well). I understand changing the NTP server in previous versions caused a licensing issue but this is not the case in 10.5. Can anyone please confirm this?

Thanks in advance!

PLM licenses are associated to the MAC of the VM, any other parameter can change and the licenses will not become invalid.

user101111,

I just restarted the ntp service on 11.5 and it did not restart the phones. Dial tone was present during the restart.

I can't confirm your second question as our PLM is hosted on the same server as CUCM for us. I don't know why it would cause a licensing issue though. You could always add a new ntp server, make it primary and remove the old one after you have confirmed the new one is working though.

Jaime,

Thanks for the clarification sir! I think you have posted that before, so I should have remembered it.

Changing NTP server and restarting NTP service will not have any impact on phones or any services of CUCM, also it will not have any impact on licensing as the license is bound with VM MAC address.  NTP does not play any role with licensing.

And if the NTP server is used as an NTP reference for the phones? wouldn't we need to restart the phones for the changes to apply?
