Hi All,
is there any way for CUCM 10 to check its gateway (ideally ISR 2900) to see if outside line is free or not. Like when a user press 9 for outside line, can CUCM check if outside line is busy or free ?
Outside line can be a E1 or FXO

Since my users are connected to CUCM, uploading and running custom audio on gateway wont help right ?
>> It will help if you configure it correctly since the cucm users can also listen to the announcements from scripts on gateways. However, this will not allow you to play the announcement before the call hits the gateway as you wanted originally.
secondly, can you refer to any document that highlights this process ?
>> These are customized solutions which you need to develop either with the help of developer team ( developer.cisco.com ) or through any third party.

Hi John,
CUCM will first send the call to route pattern which will route it to the gateway / Trunk destination as per the configured route list. When the set up or invite message reaches the gateway then it will send a response back to cucm in case the PRI / FXO is down.

Hi John,
It is not possible to play such a custom announcement natively in cucm. You may be able to develop such customized scripts on the gateway though.
