CUCM - One Server Only Question

Hi,

I have a customer that is migration from CUCM within the year.  There are currently running a CUCM cluster with just the Publisher and one Subscriber. The customer is currently on version 10.5 unsupported platform. Now, the subscriber is experiencing database issue that can only be resolved by TAC root access the A Cisco DB service will not start. I advised the customer to upgrade to at least 12.5 version until they completed their migration switchover. The customer would like to know the below question since they only have a few months before the migration will be completed. I believe the publisher can consume all the call control functions with the customer knowing their will be no redundance and one point of failure.  Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Q: Would it be possible to remove the problematic subscriber from the call group altogether and just throw a bit .ram at publisher, since it will be doing double duty? If the sub server only facilitated call management, couldn’t the pub server just do that on its own for now?

Thanks,

It depends on the size of the system landscape. How many endpoints does the system have and what size is the VMs deployed with?

The customer has a little over 800 endpoints but the services like reporting, presence, even extension mobility are not being used at all. The vm is provision will a 80 GIG hard drive and 4G of memory.

With that size there should be no problem using one server. What you could do is to add additional memory as a precaution.

One more question.  Will it cause issues if we remove the subscriber from the CUCM group?

Not if you have all the required services activated on the Publisher and don’t have anything that just points to the Subscriber.
