CUCXN Upgrade from 2.x to 10.x

Hi All,

I have not worked much on the UCXCN 2.x and as far as I know it is not even supported for the beloved COBRAS

Hence wondering what is the best way to upgrade the UCXN 2.x to 10.x .

I shall be doing it in a sandbox environment on Virtual Servers, hence no worries about HDD space or RAID H/w to S/w issues.

I was wondering if this upgrade is possible per the below measures ( 2.x to 8.6 and then 8.6 to 10.5?)

http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/voice_ip_comm/connection/8x/upgrade/guide/8xcucrug008.html

Anyone has already seen this or done this?

Any help would be greatly appreciated (aka rates :-)

Regards

Hi,

If your existing Hardware supports unity connection version 7 , then , you can upgrade to 7 .

Thereafter follow the second approach as suggested by Terry.

http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/voice_ip_comm/connection/8x/upgrade/guide/8xcucrug010.html

Other way if existing HW supports version 8 , then u can upgrade to 8 .Build same version on UCS and then, upgrade to 10.

Yes COBRAS is not available for 2.X.

Technically it should be possible to upgrade 2.X to 8.6 and then build 8.6 on UCS and use COBRAS import and then upgrade to 10.5.

Another approach that someone in the forum followed was to build the 2.X on UCS and use DRS restore and then upgrade to 10.5, there will be multiple hops.

Refer to here if you haven't already seen this:

Both ways its not simple but with the second approach looks better, you would get some room to play around in the testing environment even if you are stuck.

But I would suggest open a case with PDI to be on the right track, since it appears limited information is available on this.

Thanks gentlemen,

I shall try the second approach today and will update the thread.

Thanks for the hint.

I checked and found that, the existing HW would easily support, 7.0 and was delighted that the upgrade went smooth to 7.0, although I must confess that, I tried to upgrade from 2.x to 7.x on VM, but the upgrade / install program simply doesn't like it (errors out with HDD err).

More over, the Switching of the version from 2.0 to 7.0 was really a nail biting experience, as it simply floods dots on the screen without the actual percentage of the progress.

Finally, once it went to 7.0, most of the services wont start, thanks to the expiration of Self Signed Certificates, that was readily resolved though with the help of Regeneration of the same.

Once it was 7.0, I was able to use the COBRAS and rest is history.

Thanks a lot for all your help.
