Currently using CME/CUE. Will be moving to CUCM and CXN.
Does anyone know if the licenses for CUE can be moved to CXN?
I understand that physical there is not a file to move, and that licensing@cisco will have to generate the license file, but i need to know if licensing@cisco will do this, if Cisco supports it, or do new licenses need to be purchased for CXN.
Basically, if i have a 50 vm cue image, can i get a 50vm license for cxn? If not, why?
thanks,
MM

Hi MM,
This is not a process that I've seen documented anywhere. That
being said, Cisco always talks about the "Investment Protection"
when moving from SMB systems to larger Enterprise products as is
the case here. Your best bet is to work with your Cisco Account Manager
and SE when working out the CUC purchase details. They should be able to
help generate a PAK for the 50 licenses that were already purchased for CUE.
Cheers!

Hi Rob,
Thanks for your response. I am working with licensing now and they are telling me that since there is no migration strategy for a CUE to CXN move, the licenses cannot be transferred.
I agree that since this is an upgrade, the licenses should be transferrable.
I am trying now to get an explanation on why already purchased mailbox licenses need to be repurchased.
I know CME device licenses can be migrated to CUCM, so why not CUE to CXN???
I'll update this post as movement is made, in case anyone else ever runs into this situation, which i am sure many have already.
Thanks,
MM
