Hello all,
We are in the middle of an IT Pilot of CUPC 8.5 and a few people who run the executable to install CUPC8.5 on their PC are getting a "Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable Package (x86)" error. We have had them run the C++ executable as per cisco's documentation but even when they run the C++ they still get the same error message?? This is happening on two PC's both running XP
Has anyone else had encountered this issue? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.
Rgds,
Vicky

Hi -
Sounds like you are following the release notes OK :-)
The CUPC 8.5 release notes state that if you are using the MSI version, it requires the Visual Basic to be installed first.

We got around this by using the executable .exe which is also included when you download the Windows version from Cisco. The executable installs the software on the Windows XP workstation. Note this does require a reboot. We did not attempt to do this with a software install package, just ran from user's PC. Make sure you are local admin on the user workstation.
Hope this helps! Ginger

Hi Ginger,
Sorry for the delay in replying, this doesn't look like its the issue. There is no existing C++ program running on this end users PC and when we go to install it we get an error.
Thank you for the feedback. I am thinking this is something screwy with the image we use on most of our end users PC's and we may need to tweak something in the Microsoft background to get the C++ to load.
Again, thank you for the feedback.

Vicky
