CUPS and Cisco UP Sync Agent

Ive had some recent issues with syncing ldap users (CCM 6.1.5).  When I check the publisher sync status its:

Sync Completed, but currently failed to connect to the CUCM Database Monitor. Retrying...

The Cisco UP Sync Agent service is up and running.  I restart the Cisco UP Sync Agent service and it allows new users to be imported but it reverts back to the failed to connect message.  Ive done a search on the forums but nothing is related to my issue.  Anyone have insight?

Thanks

Can you reboot both cucm and cup servers ?

If that doesn't fix it send over the following

-- show tech network hosts from all servers

-- show myself from all servers

-- file get activelog /platform/log/clustermgr*.* from the cup server

Any messages in RTMT logs?

Only intersting thing I see in SysLogViewer is this line after the Cisco UP Sync Agent is restarted:

Date: Sep 28 14:33:17

Machine Name: cups1

Severity: Notice

Process:  mgetty[14766]

Message: : failed dev=ttyS0, pid=14766, login time out

Have you checked the results of the System Troubleshooter in diagnostics?

What version of CUPS?

Hi,

What you need to check first is the hosts file on all the servers (cucm and cup)

from cli

show tech network hosts

Hosts file should have all the servers from both cup and cucm

Let me know if you spot any problem

Thanks,

Christos

Using CUPS System version: 7.0.3.10000-63

I only see local hosts and my CUPS serve in the hosts file.  How do i add the my CUCM servers to the host file?  I also have a Unity server but i dont need to include that right?

That's exactly your problem

So hosts file in your cup server doesn't have the cucm servers right ?

The hosts file of cucm servers does include the cup servers right ?

You cannot add the nodes locally as they will disappear after a reboot.

Did you add the cup server as an application server in callmanager ?

Can you check the name of the cucm publisher in the cup topology page ?

Also check the mtu size on both cucm and cup server

From cli 'show network eth0 detail'

  • Yes the CUPS sever only has loopback and its ip on the host file
  • Yes the CUCM publisher has the subscriber CUCM and CUPS server
  • Yes the CUPS server was added as an application server in the publisher CUCM
  • The name checks out in the topology page in CUPS admin
  • The MTU sizes on both servers are standard 1500

Can you reboot both cucm and cup servers ?

If that doesn't fix it send over the following

-- show tech network hosts from all servers

-- show myself from all servers

-- file get activelog /platform/log/clustermgr*.* from the cup server

HTH,

Christos

Restarted the CUPS server and that resolved the SYnc Agent issue.  Its too bad I couldnt nail down what was casuing the problem but whatever.  Thanks.
