I have a CUCM 8.5.1 server with 2900 set as the vm pilot. If you dial 2900 or press the message button you get forwarded to the Unity server (also 8.5.1) and get prompted for your pin.
I have a DID number for remote vm access and set a translation pattern to change the DID, 1234 to 2900.
Now, if you dial 1234 internally, you get prompted for your pin...
BUT, dialing the DID gets you to what I believe is the Unity directory handler where it says "if you know you're party's extension, dial it now..." etc. You can press * and it will ask you for your ID and you can then get you're vm
Is there way to get the DID to prompt you for your ID without hittng the *?
Remote vm isn't used much by and the DID recording isn't really intuitive to getting your voicemail.
Thanks!

Hi there,
What you are hearing is the "Opening Greeting" call handler which
is working as designed
You can customize the greeting to reflect the press * or generate
a Wallet card (from the great Unity Tools ) that describes the proper access instructions.
http://www.ciscounitytools.com/Applications/CxN/WalletCardWizard/WalletCardWizard.html
Part of the Wallet card shows this info;
Accessing Cisco Unity
1. Call Cisco Unity.
From your desk phone:
- Dial xxxx
Or
- Press the Messages button on your
phone.
From outside the office:
- Dial nnn-nnx-xxxx
2. If you are calling from another phone
within the office or from outside the
office, press * when Cisco Unity
answers.
3. If prompted, enter your Cisco Unity
ID (your desk phone extension), and
press #.
4. Enter your password, and press #.
Cheers!
Rob

Thanks for the great info. That Wallet Card maker will come in handy.
I actually got this to work by configuring a forwarded routing rule to match the DID number with a CTI route point.
