Disable Bluetooth & Wi-Fi on CUCM 10.5

Russ Carpenter

Running CUCM 10.5 and we are looking for the ability to disable Bluetooth and Wi-Fi for all existing VoIP units registered to our CUCM as well as for any new VoIP units we add to our CUCM cluster.

We currently have Bluetooth and Wi-Fi disabled in the following areas

Enterprise Phone Configuration & Common Phone Profile

However, when we add new VoIP units that support Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, these options are still enabled unless we specifically disable them in the Device Settings (Product Specific Configuration Layout).

Is there a way to configure our CUCM 10.5 cluster to disable all Bluetooth and Wi-Fi features on existing endpoints as well as preventing Bluetooth and Wi-Fi from being enabled when adding new VoIP units that support it?

Thank You!

Russ

Hi Russ,

There is no enterprise or service parameter for this setting to be disabled. If a lot of them need the option to be disabled then it can be done using BAT. You can use the Bulk admin / export phones / all details, save the file as csv to get a spreadsheet of all phones. The spreadsheet has an xml column with a setting that allows us to turn off bluetooth (setting is <bluetooth>0</bluetooth>, then upload the file and insert phones/all details. This turns bluetooth off on all phones. You may test on a few phones or in your lab before doing it on all phones in production.
