I know this topic has been beat to death but we have a Nortel PBX and are in the process of transitioning from Nortel Call Pilot voicemail to CUC 8.6, keeping most of the users on Nortel phones and about 5% on Cisco phones connected to CUCM 8.6.
Question: Can I program a vacant DN as a CTI in Call Manager to X-fer callers to end users mailbox, i.e. I call the CTI DN of 'xxxx' get routed to CUC and enter users ext for their mailbox 'xxxx' to leave a message.
Note: The 5% of users on the Cisco Call Manager currently use '#xxxx' for express messaging to CUC but 95% of our users are still on the Nortel PBX and will be unable to use the '#xxxx'

Is Nortel PBX integated directly yo CUC via PIMG or is it integrated to CUCM via QSIG/SIP for voicemail access?

4 PRI's configured for QSIG from the Nortel PBX to the CUCM for incoming/outgoing calls to the Cisco side servicing the Cisco phones given that the Local PRI's from our Local Carrier terminate into the PBX. We have the 1000 Series PIMG's for integration into the CUC from the Nortel PBX for voicemail access and MWI status for the Nortel phones.

So, are you looking for a quicj transfer to user mailboxes from Nortel side to Nortel users or Cisco users? If Nortel users you should not be doing anything in CUCM and keep in all within Nortel as there is directed integration via PIMG to CUC.

We are moving forward on migration to CUC and away from Nortel Call Pilot but will keep the Nortel PBX active for a period of time while we Pilot the CUCM. We only have a few IT staff with Cisco phones but the majority of users will be on the Nortel PBX using Unity Connection for voicemail. As you mentioned we are currently directly integrated into Unity Connection via the PIMG's from the PBX. To use Express Messaging in this setup a Nortel user will have to call ext for CUC access then enter ext for desired mailbox followed by #2, using the following format, 'xxxx', 'yyyy', '#2'
I know this seems petty but if the user does not enter the '#2' quickly they will get diverted to the persons phone and not their mailbox.
I was hoping I could build a DN in our Nortel PBX as a Distant Steering Code. When called would route via our internal PRI's to the CUCM where I could program a corresponding CTI with matching DN to transfer to CUC which would allow caller to enter ext of users mailbox to leave a message. Similiar to how Meridan Mail or Call Pilots handles Express Messaging.

Why are you trying to send it through CUCM? Can't you do that on Nortel side, build a pattern that strips first digit and sends the rest to CUC via PIMG?

I will try that, thanks Chris.
