How to turn off MWI on secondary line?

How does one get the MWI (envelope) to stop on the secondary line, and only have it light on the phone with the primary line? I have the Service Parameter set to light on first line only. The line is set to use the system policy. Yet, the envelope still appears on the secondary line of the other phones when there is a message. Also, I tried setting the line policy to never. But it still comes on. Is ther something else I can try? Is this a bug? Thanks.

Hello,

This happen only when the second line has a separate mail box.Make sure that it does not have a separate mail box .

This will not happen if the second line is programmed as an alternate extension for the primary line.

Lets say you have a phone with extn 2000 and 2001 as the primary and secondary lines .On the callmanager 2000 busy goes to 2001 and no answer goes to voicemail .For 2001 busy and no answer goes to VM.

Now in Unity create a mail box for 2000 and on the subscriber page there is alternate extension.Add an alternate extension as 2001 .Like this whenever a calls that comes from 2001 will be forwarded to 2000 mail box.In the messages setting make sure you don't have alternate MWI.

I hope this helps.

Thanks

Radhika

Just to clarify the problem,

You have 2 IP Phones with DN 2000 in same partition (shared line).

One with DN 2000 as primary (first) line.

another IP phone with DN 2000 as secondary line>

And when the primary phone gets a new msg the light lights up and on other phone the light is off but next to number in LCD you see envelope?

Is that the problem?

I don't know what version of CallManager you have but here is the information on how to program 4.0(1) correctly:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/sw/voicesw/ps556/products_administration_guide_chapter09186a00801ec5c3.html#1050444

The feature is called "Message Waiting Lamp Policy" and it has been around for a while now. You can do a search on CCO for information for other CallManager releases.

Thanks,

Keith

The version of CallManager is 3.3.2 no service releases. The version of Unity is 4.02. The "Message Waiting Lamp Policy" is the first place I went. The policy was already set for "Light Primary Line Only," and the line policy was set to "Use System Policy." I changed this around several times. But, no matter what combination of parameters in the Service Parameters and the Line Parameters, it is always the same. Even when both parameters are set to Never Light, it doesn't change. It's as if the changes have absolutely no effect. I even booted the CM and the phones, still I get a light on the phone with the primary line, and an envelope on the secondary line of the other phone. How can this happen? Am I missing something else? Is there some other parameter?

Note: on this version of CM, I only have three options for MWI policy: Light Primary Line Only, Always Light, Never Light.

Thanks

Yes Eberqquist, that is the problem. And, no matter what settings I make on the service parameters, or on the line, the same thing happens. I set the service parameter to Never Light and it still does the same thing: a light on the primary line phone, and an envelope on the secondary phone line. Thanks for any help.
