I have setup the idleurl as per the instructions. When I try the http://xxx/ciscoipservices/asp/idleurl/idleurl.asp I get host not found. Is there something I have to do on the windows server to advertise this?

As much as I can. We are using CUCM 7.1.3

5 points for Rob.  Even though its for CUCM 4.x, it is still valid for CUCM 7.1.3.  It uses the same concept for the idle URL image. (000s and 1sss).  You cant simply put a JPG picture off a web server and point in CUCM for the phone.  I wish it was that easy....... (maybe someday)

So download the SDK pack, let it "fix up" your picture file and then copy that file to your web server.  Point the phone to the file on the webserver and give it a try.

Remember if your are using the name of the webserver to have the phone be able to resolve the DNS name.  Try with IP first, then you can use DNS later.
