Inbound Called Party Translation Across MGCP T1 PRI

C_Noble

I need some help with modifying Called Party numbers.

We have an MGCP gateway with T1 PRIs to a legacy PBX.
The legacy PBX can only send me 7 digits instead of 10.

I have 10 digits on the phone and I need to add 777 (Example Number for privacy) to the begining of the number.
Example:
              Dialed number : 4551218
Number needs to translate to 7774551218

To accomplish I did the following:
     1. Configured translation pattern 455XXXX > Called Party Transformation 777455XXXX, in a partition "Legacy".
     2. Configured Calling Search Space with access to only "Legacy" partition.
     3. Assigned the calling search space to the T1 as Inbound Calling Search Space.

The call never gets translated and show "unallocated number" in RTMT.
As a test, I gave one of my CUCM numbers the calling search space configred above, and the translation pattern does work.

Why is the call not being translated when it comes across the T1?

Am i missing something?

Any help is appreciated!

Apart from what I previously wrote this article is a great read if you want to understand the use of transformation patterns in CM. Understanding the 5 uses of Calling Party Transformation Pattern in UCM It's written by the great Vik Malhi, likely the most gifted trainer that I ever had the pleasure of having attending a class with.

Have you reset the MGCP gateway after you did the change of the inbound CSS? Also if you could post the output from debug isdn q931 so we can see how the call is sent to CM?

Thank you! Asking again, did you reset the gateway in CM after you did the change?

Yes and tested, no joy.

Hi,

In the translation pattern, make sure you selected the correct CSS which includes internal extension partition and not Legacy partition.

Please let us know

Hi,

Please activate a debug isdn q931 on your VG and try a call.

A screenshot of how you configured both MGCP Gateway and one of the Tranlation pattern would be useful.

To start troubleshooting you can use DNA at https://<cucmip>/dna

adding a fake calling number and specifying the 7 digits called number, you should see how the cucm would treat the call.

Please let me know.

Carlo

Not directly related to your question, but you cannot use the same CSS for transformation as for the inbound CSS. Please change these.

This DNA output looks like your testing it for a phone, not from the gateway. Please redo the DNA with the gateway as the selected option. Also there are inconsistencies in the output that you share, in some places it states 7774351218 and in others 7774551218.

If you see an inconsistency between 435 and 455 its because I was changing some numbers up prior to posting on the internet for everyone to see.  Rest assured I have the correct number in place.

Totally, did not know you could do a DNA from a source gateway under Analysis > Gateway.

DNA still looks good when selecting the gateway as the source:
