Install and configure Jabber manually

Looking to install Jabber manually without UDS for testing.

I've looked at some documentation but it only speaks to how to setup UDS but not how to setup and install Jabber without UDS.  Just want to enter the information manually or a config file.

any help would be appreciated.

We are on 12.5 CUCM.

For Jabber to work in Phone-Only mode:

  • Home Cluster checked and IMP NOT checked on the End User account
  • End User must be in the Standard CCM End Users Group and CTI Enabled Group
  • The CSF Device must be associated in the End User account
  • The User must be the Owner of the CSF device on the device configuration Page
  • Preferred: Have a Primary Extension selected for the user in the End User account
  • Minimum: Create a Service Profile (even if no services are indicated - this means it gets UDS for directory) and either make it the default for the system, or select it as the profile in the End User account

Any additional features and functions are added via UC Services and/or via the Jabber-Config XML file.

EDIT: @Jaime Valencia reminded me that Jabber requires that your DNS server have a _cisco-uds._tcp.<domain> pointing to your CUCM server. If you don't have that, when you are logging into Jabber you will need to configure "Advanced Services" and manually enter the IP or FQDN of your CUCM server.

There is no such guide, you're expected to use CUCM and / or IM&P, AND you're also expected to choose either UDS or EDI, one or the other, not having one is the same as what you would see in cases in which the UDS is not working or the EDI configuration is wrong and you end up with no directory resolution and instead of names and details all you see are the JIDs.

Jabber gets the configuration from the backend servers, it has to register to either/both of them to work.

 

The only manual configuration you get to do is a few of the parameters in the bootstrap file and if SRV is not working, then input manually the servers details
