You didn't mention the number of Unity subscribers, or which server you had. Please review this link:

Cisco Unity Supported Platforms List

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/sw/voicesw/ps2237/products_data_sheet0900aecd802132ef.html

"ECS2 configurations are optimized for unified messaging deployments or voice mail deployments where messages will be stored on a separate server."

So are the ECS2 not supported for VM-Only with messages stored on the same server for to say a number 300 users?

Thanks,

-Jose

Thanks for your reply.

They have MCS 7825H 3.0 ECS2 MCS 7825 Unity; 512MB; RAID 1; Win2K for 75 users.

It mentions it is optimized for off-box, but if we wanted to use it for on-box, would that be supported.

I found the server on the link I sent you and the specs are below. I would however recommend that you add another 512 megs of RAM if you are going to install AD, SQL or MSDE, and Unity on the same server. This server will serve =<499 unity subscribers.

MCS-7825H-3.0-ECS1

• Shipped by Cisco, manufactured by HP

• Rack mount-1RU

• Supports Cisco Unity version 3.1 and later

• Single Northwood Pentium 4 @ 3.06 GHz processor

• 512 MB RAM

• Two 36 GB hard drives (RAID 1configured)

• Up to 16 ports

• IP integration only

• Up to 499 users for Unified Messaging (message store off the Cisco Unity server)

• Up to 499 users for Voice Messaging

• Up to 50 VMI users-Cisco Unity 3.1x

• Up to 50 CPCA users-Cisco Unity 4.0

• Up to 8 TTS sessions

• DVD-ROM

• Security key:

–USB for Cisco Unity 3.x

–None required for Cisco Unity 4.0 and later

• Tape drive (external SCSI conected) is available as an option

• SMARTnet® services available

• Approximate message storage (in minutes)*

–G-711-25,604 (427 hours)

–G-729-204,832 (3,414 hours)

* Assumes 8 GB for system partition, half of addressable drive space reserved for recovery, Exchange (Voicemail Runtime) Standard Edition. This is for Voice Messaging deployments with local message store only. In Unified Messaging deployments the amount of storage time available for messages depends upon the Exchange or Lotus Domino network storage capacity.

For more information on the MCS-7825H-3.0-ECS1, refer to:

Hi.

In the url provided I can't find information about the specs of MCS-7825H-3.0-ECS2 and how many subscribers can handle in VM-Only and in UM-Only.

I know that the ECS2 are optimized for Unified Messaging scenarios with an off-box messaging store. But Cisco includes this server as part of their bundles of CCM and Unity w/ VM-Only licenses for 25 Users and I would like to know ow many licenses we can add to the serve in VM-Only and using the same unity server as a messaging store. Probably it is the same (i.e. 499 users) as the ECS1 configuration.

TIA,

-Jose

Compare your hardware specs against the closest match and if yours is more powerful, then you should be fine.
