Presence 7.0.5.10000-18.  Login Server for Presence goes away frequently without explanation during CUPC login. Not frequently but it does happen once in awhile. Has anyone else experienced this? Thanks in advance.

Hey Jonny,

Login information is stored locally in configuration file:

On XP:
C:\Documents and Settings\\Application Data\Cisco\Unified PersonalCommunicator\uclocal.xml

On Win 7/Windows Vista machines this file can be
C:\Users\\AppData\Local\Cisco\Unified Personal Communicator
Usually in these scenarios, either the AntiVirus or another program is deleting the xml file.

Please add the following directory to the exception in the AV scans

"C:\Documents and Settings\\Application Data\Cisco"

Best Regards,
Jasmeet

This can happen when shutting down the OS. Specifically with Vista this is happening more frequently where the OS does not allow for enough time for the application to gracefully close its connections. This causes the uclocal.xml file to get corrupted. Workaround is to shut down the client before shutting down the OS.

This has also been added to the release notes:

To retain your Cisco Unified Personal Communicator login credentials, you must exit the application before shutting down your Windows system. Due to a conflict, the Windows shut down process prevents Cisco Unified Personal Communicator from retaining login credentials unless you exit the application prior to shutting down. If you do not exit Cisco Unified Personal Communicator prior to shutting down your PC, you will not be able to login automatically the next time you launch the application. You can always login manually. Please note this only occurs intermittently and is mostly seen on problematic systems such as:

–low performance systems

–systems heavily loaded with applications and services

–systems that are not properly patched or updated with the latest service packs (CSCti78452)

Thank you both for the above responses. I will look into both and reply back.
