Hi,
Am planning to upgrade from Unity Connection 8.6 to Unity connection 10.x. My current unity connnection 8.6 is running on Cisco MCS 7825 H3 Hardware.
As my UCS upgrade license is expiring in another 15 days, am planning to upgrade the latest available version.
Is MCS 7825 H3 is compatible for 10.x unity connection and can i directly upgrade from 8.6 to 10.x .
Pls suggest

Hi Jagadish,
please refer the link which says
Cisco Unity Connection 10.x is not pre-installed on any platform. Unity Connection 10.0(1) and later can only be installed on virtual machines. Cisco Unity Connection 10.x is not pre-installed on any platform. Unity Connection 10.0(1) and later can only be installed on virtual machines.

Hi,
Thanks for the respone. So first i need to upgrade to 9.x on same MCS 7835 H3 hardware. Take a DRS Backup and restore it on VMware machine with 9.x installed and then plan for 10.x upgrade Right ??
Also this will eat 2 upgrade license right ??

Hi Aman,
So my understanding is..
First .....
1) From the Physical Server take a DRS Backup.UC 8.6
2) Create the VMware Session for 10.x with respective ova template required for 5000 users.
3) Intall the 10.x with same config like hostname ip etc.. Both PUB & SUB.
4) Restore the DRS Backup of 8.6..on 10.x VM ware
5) With the help of cobras migrate the licenses.
Second
1) From the Physical server take a DRS Backup of UC 8.6.
2) Create the VMware Session for 10.x with respective ova template required for 5000 users.
3) Install the 8.6 (same version) on vmware with same config like hostname ip etc..Pub & Sub.
4) Restore the DRS Backup on vmware.
5) Get the license from cisco.
6) The upgrade the UC 8.6 to 10.x ..
Which is correct aman First or Second.
Also am confirmed that Unity Connection (UC) 10.x can be integrated with CUCM 8.6.

Hi Jagadish,
You need to follow second option.while restoring, u need to have exactly same versions.
Unity connection 7.x or in your case 8.6 is compatible with call manager 10.x or lower CUCM versions

Thanks Aman,
So i need to follow this...
Second Option
1) From the Physical server take a DRS Backup of UC 8.6.
2) Create the VMware Session for 10.x with respective ova template required for 5000 users.
3) Install the 8.6 (same version) on vmware with same config like hostname ip etc..Pub & Sub.
4) Restore the DRS Backup on vmware.
5) Get the license from cisco.
6) The upgrade the UC 8.6 to 10.x ..
And wrt compatibility my CUCM remains on 8.6 version and unity connection moves to 10.x version. Hope this fine.
