Is there any way to let a client move the email messages from Unity out of there Inbox and still retain the use of the MWI light?
Currenlty a user is utilizing a rule that moves these messages to a subfolder called Phones. She does not receive MWI notification nor can she listen to them by calling into Unity.
The user claims this use to work before the upgrade to 4.1. From what I understand is that this won't work though.

The user is wrong - this would never have worked and could never work.
Unity has filters on the server side based on the inbox (we have access to the deleted items folder as well, of course, but don't setup filters for it) - we do not create filters for custom folders and in many cases do not have access to them regardless even if we wanted to try. We've never done this and never will.
If you move a message out of the inbox to a custom folder we will not have access to it over the phone. End of story. It's always been that way.

Hi -
The voice message must be in either the Inbox or Deleted Items folder for the TUI to have access to the message. If the message is moved to another folder by an Outlook rule, the MWI does not light. This holds true for all of the versions of Unity I have worked with - 3.1(5), 4.0(3) - (5), and 4.1. Here is a link from Unity 4.0(5) that shows when the MWI is not activated - http://www.cisco.com/en/US/customer/products/sw/voicesw/ps2237/prod_troubleshooting_guide_chapter09186a0080449da1.html#wp1053795
- "(Unified Messaging only) An Inbox rule automatically moves voice messages to another folder. Cisco Unity monitors only the Inbox. " And the MWI light is not activated by email.
