Hi,
Would it be possible to activate the MWI on subscribers assigned to different "switches" or integrations in Unity 7.0.
We will have a Unity 7 setup with:
- 1 callmanager cluster
- 3 Ericsson MD110 PABX's connected with PIMG setups.
We would like to activate the MWI on subscribers in Unity registered onto differnet PABX'es.
Many Thanks

Yes, Cisco Unity 7.0(2) will allow you to specify alternate MWI extensions for each subscriber in addition to their primary MWI extension. When you assign an alternate MWI extension, you are also able to choose which switch integration that MWI should be sent out on.
An administrator can specify an alternate MWI extensions for a subscriber in the Cisco Unity System Administration (SA) web interface.
Open the SA and go to Subscribers --> Messages and enter the alternate MWI extensions and switch integration to be used for each alternate MWI extension.

Hi Dirk,
This should be supported as shown below (these references and Guides should carry over to Unity 7.x as well);
Combination Limitations for Multiple Phone System Integrations
Cisco Unity 5.0 supports multiple simultaneous phone system integrations in any combination with the following limitations:
â¢The number of simultaneous phone system integrations is limited only by the number of licensed voice messaging ports on the Cisco Unity server.
â¢Only one integration with a circuit-switched phone system through voice cards is supported on the Cisco Unity server.
For example, Cisco Unity can be integrated with the following phone systems at one time (a total of 25 phone system integrations):
â¢Six circuit-switched phone systems through PIMG/TIMG units
â¢Six Cisco Unified Communications Manager phone systems through Skinny Call Control Protocol (SCCP)
â¢Six QSIG-enabled phone systems with Cisco ISR voice gateway
â¢One circuit-switched phone system through voice cards
â¢Six Cisco Unified Communications Manager phone systems through SIP trunk

Hello Rob,
Thank you for this information, but can you confirm if it is possible to activate the MWI for one subscriber onto different integrations ?
Many Thanks,
Dirk

Dirk,
Not sure what you mean by this. Each subscriber in Unity is assigned to one and only one switch. User A if added with a template that assigned him to the CUCM, Unity will dial MWI on/off for that user through the CUCM. The same goes for the other integrations.
Hope that helps,
Brad

Hello Brad,
Is is possible to have a subscriber assigned to "one integration" and have notifications on other subscribers of other integrations ?
For instance:
Unity with:
- one Ericsson by PIMG
- one callmanager
Can I have message waiting indication on an Ericsson phone and on a Cisco phone for the same subscriber ? (by adding the extension in the "MWI extensions" field ?
Thanks,
Dirk

Hi Dirk,
This will work only if the Second phone involved (in your example) is not a Unity Subscriber. For example, you have a DN 5555 which is a Unity Subscriber that belongs to the Ericsson via PIMG. If you wanted to light the MWI on a phone DN 4444 that was integrated to CCM this would only work if 4444 was not a Unity Subscriber.
Here is a clip that refers to this relationship, please note the "unique" wording:
You can assign subscribers up to nine alternate MWIs. **The alternate MWI extensions must be unique-up to the dialing domain level, if applicable-and no more than 30 digits in length.
Hope this helps!
