New versions of CUPC and CUPS???

Has anyone heard when there will be a new version of CUPC or CUPS will be released? Also what new features will be included. Office 2010 support?

I have some users that I need to update and would rather not have them update and a couple of weeks later have a new release to push out again.

Thanks,

Doug

I am wondering the same thing.  They have the CUPS 8.5 Documentation available already but no sign of the download.  They normally post the docs a few days before the download but I don't know about this one.

Looking through the docs it does say it supports exchange and outlook 2010.  YAY!!!

The last i saw for CUP 8.5 is end of Janurary or early Feb

Will CUPC 8.5 be released at the same time or is it going to be later? What changes have been made between CUPC 8.0.3 and CUPC 8.5?

Differences between CUPC 8.0 and 8.5 are high lighted in this presentation

My understanding is that both would be the same but hopefully someone from the BU can comment

Srini,

Thanks, as always, for your active participation on the Collaboration Community.  The links you provide go to the Partner Collaboration Community which only Cisco partners can access.  I've forwarded this to the subject experts to provide a response.

CUP 8.5 and CUPC 8.5 are being targeted for release on Jan 31.  CUPC 8.0(3) already supports Microsoft Office 2010.  So just for that capability, you don't have to wait for CUPC 8.5.  The following is a brief list of new features in CUPC 8.5.  It's from a draft version of the release notes.  But, the final version will be very close.

High Availability failover support for the chat and availability status features.

Ability to join scheduled Cisco WebEx meetings.

Enhanced integration with Microsoft Office applications with the introduction of the Click to Call group on the Ribbon and other click-to-call enhancements.

Support for 64-bit versions of Microsoft Office applications.

Ability to disable the Instant Messaging feature.

Ability to disable the Availability Status feature.

Ability to disable Instant Messaging History logging.

Support for tel:uri and im:uri protocal handling.

Ability to run Cisco Unified Personal Communicator in the background as a desktop agenting.

Support for video when using your desk phone for phone calls with 64-bit versions of Windows.

Provision for DHTML extensibility feature, where up to three pages of HTML content can be displayed in the Cisco Unified Personal Communicator main window.

Enhanced user interface with the introduction of a vertical panel for “Contacts”, “Rooms” and up to three HTML links.

Support for single sign-on (SSO) for Cisco WebEx and Cisco Unified MeetingPlace meetings.

Other user experience enhancements such as, searching for a contact by number, or remembering the last size of position of the application windows.

Will the CUPS upgrade be downloadable or will it require a PUT order?

I don't seem to have any Outlook 2010 integration with this release.  Even after uninstalling and choosing a doing a custom install, I don't see Outlook listed under Click To Call addons.  Am I missing something?

It is Outlook 2010 64 or 32 bit?. It is only supported with 32 bit

Srini

It's 32 bit Office on 64 bit Windows 7 BUT I did get it working by removing all references to 8.0(x) from the registry and reinstalling.  The only issues I have found so far is:

1) Still no video on 64 bit Windows.  Under Options Video is grayed out

2) Highlighting an email in Outlook and clicking More>Call> does not bring up the phone number for the sender of the message (the sender is in my Contacts list). It does work when a contact is selected in the Contacts window however.

I have CUPC 8 and 8.5 both working with video on 64 bit machine (installed in 32 bit mode) without any issues. The only caveat is if you use desk phone mode then video is not supported at this time. It is only supported in soft phone mode

I have the C2C plugin on Outlook and I have the new ribbon in the message envelope that allows me to click from there. Once again my testing has been with 2007 but as per the release notes 2010 Outlook 32 bit should work

Srini

When will deskphone mode for video be supported? I thought it was supposed to be as you can't load VT Advantage on Win7.

I am glad to see you post that, but not thrilled about it.

I have been trying to get video working today with deskphone mode and CUPC 8.5, and now I know why I can't find anything about it.
