Unity 7.x, Exchange 2007, Active Directory 2008.
Client reports the following for their REMOTE CUPC/softphone clients:
Internal caller calls, gets ringback, can leave message. Message shows properly in both CUPC and e-mail application.
External caller calls, gets ringback, can leave message. Message does not show anywhere. CUPC and e-mail application does not show any indication of message.
User calls voicemail pilot point from CUPC . Receives a message that the messaging server is unavailable.
LOCAL/Headquarters Users work fine.

Hi -
It sounds to me as though your Unity server is in UMR mode - where it thinks Exchange is down and is storing voice messages in the COMMSERVER\UnityMTA folder. Check for messages here. If Exchange (note Unity's partner server) is indeed operational and you are not seeing any messages in the Unity application event log that Exchange store is offline, you can restart the AvUMRSyncSvr service. This should move the messages from UnityMTA to the users' Exchange inboxes.

Thanks - this turned out to be largely the the problem. There were other errors, but they were all related to some form of synchronization failure with Exchange. A reboot solved the problem. Thanks for the response!
