Hello Guys,

I am facing a very weird issue in my environment. When user is logged in phone via extension mobility feature a noticiable popping sound plays after every 5-10 minutes of time interval. This issue is not on all phones in that cluster, but it is specific to one site.  I have checked device pool settings and also extension mobility service parameters, but didn t find anything relevant.  Any suggestions for the resolutions.?

What is the cucm version?

Which phone models / firmware are involved?

Any difference in switch model / IOS version / switchport config for the working and non working sites?

Does the popping sound stop if the user is not logged in using EM?

Was the problem always there on this site or cropped up after some recent changes?

Hello Manish,

CUCM Verison is 9.1 and branch on which issue is reported using 7945 phones, but there is a strange thing that i am not able to see phone firmware info on phone config page.. but 7945 phones in our enviroment are using SCCP45.9-4-2-1S firmware load.

Yes, popping sound stops once user logout from EM. Earlier there were no issues with EM but yesterday all of sudden it start behaving abnormally.

It seems that the issue is not With EM service otherwise it would have affected other sites as well. Since you are unable to see the firmware on the 7945's on this site you may restart the TFTP service on cucm and reset these phones and check if the firmware details appear. If possible try swapping a working phone with one of these 7945's on this site and see if the new phone is also affected. That would at least suggest if the issue is with phones or something else.

Thanks Manish,

I reset phone and now i am able to see firmware info. Here is one strange thing i have figured out. I am logged in into my CIPC using my EM device profile. When i assign DN specific for that site(where issue exists) popping sound appears, but as soon as i change DN in my device profile it disappears. Seems like something wrong with DN number range... Please suggest.

My CIPC is configured with diff branch device pool and TFTP, .
