Is there a way to stop presence from picking up computer names when you search for a user to add to contacts?

Go to CUPS > Application > Cisco Unified Personal Communicator > LDAP Profile. Configure the search context like this:

ou=employees,dc=acme,dc=com;&(objectclass=user)

The "(objectclass=user)" will limit the search to users only.

No joy. My search context is the root of my domain because our OU structure isn't standard by any means. Could it have something to do with that or the version of Presence (7.0.4)?

It has nothing to do with CUPS. It totally depends on CUPC. If you're running CUPC 7.0.2 (like most of the customers out there), it will work (and has to work). If it doesn't, open a TAC case.

Will TAC help me out if I don't have support on the software, but I do on the hardware?

You could try abbreviating the search base to this:

DC=acme,DC=com;&(objectclass=user)

That's exactly what I have in my search base and it doesn't work. I have a TAC case open now and they're looking into it.

Well I figured out a work around for our OU structure. I just went in to the OUs that hold our computer objects and denied the CUPS LDAP account access. Thanks for the suggestions though guys.
