Split Unity License from one Unity Server

Hi,

Remote site A has installed Cisco Unity 4.0(3), now a subsite of this remote site will have additional Unity server but would like to use some part of the existing unity server license. For example, we try to split 50 user license from the existing 200 user license.

Is there any procedure for this requirement?

Also, is there any diffence on UM/VM license file spliting?

Hi JJ -

If you digitally network your two Unity servers together, you can order an updated license file for each server that allows you to pool user licenses. Your configuration must match the requirements for digital networking, i.e. Unity servers installed in same AD forest (directory) if using Exchange or same Domino Address book if using Lotus Notes. One last thing, if you'd like the parts to order for the pooled licensing (1 each per server):

- UNITY-LIC-UPG-40

- UNITY-UM-USR-E (Exchange) If you are using Domino, this part number will be different.

- UNITY-LIC-POOL

Maybe you can answer this for me. I have a customer who we are upgrading 4 unity boxes digitally networked together from 4.03 to 4.2. My question is that currently they do not have license pooling enabled. My understanding is that it is a 0 dollar amount. If the customer has SASU support and this is a 0 dollar amount is there a way to get this without going through the whole odering issues. I dont quite understand why this wasnt a part of it anyway. The customer bought all Bundles when they orgionally purchased Unity and it was deployed over time to the the other sites. Not really thinking about networking them. Any help would be appreciated. Hi Amy,

You have probably sorted this by now.. but I believe you can log a tac case and ask for license pooling to be enabled..

In the past you have been able to log a licensing case by emailing licensing@cisco.com also.

If you were ordering new licenses, then you should add the part code.. but you shouldnt have to re-order now. Especially since the order would be 0 cost :)
