Is there any benefit of 1 or the other? I have a situation where the receptionist should answer calls from 9-12, take lunch from 12-1, then answer calls from 1-5. After 5 calls should go to an call handler w/ a simple tree. I was thinking of using a call handler and just adjusting the schedule to be active during the other the tree should be active, then sending the call back to CUCM during hours the receptionist should answer, but not sure if that's the best approach. I haven't used ToD routing before but would that be a better way to do this? The reception has extension 1000 which is also the actual DID that's incoming so I was planning on doing a CFA on 1000, then giving the receptionist 1001 and using a Translation Pattern so when internal users call 1000 it would actually call 1001.

Hi there
TOD is an easy way to get things rolling here. You can configure TOD in CUCM and redirect the after hour calls to CUC. Also if you have UCCX, this can be easily achieved with a simple script

Hope this Helps
Cheers
