Unity 3.1.4 messages delayed for up to 2 hours

I have a problem with Unity 3.1.5. Running CCM 3.2 and exchange 5.5.

Basically the problem is this:

Person leaves a voicemail for an extension at 10:00am. The owner of that extension checks their voicemail at 10:30am and Unity reports that there are no messages. User goes to lunch and comes back to check messages at 1:00pm. Same message from Unity, no messages. User checks voicemail at 2:00pm and there is a new message. User listens to the message and discovers that it was left at 10:00am.

This is happening to random users at random times, but always during business hours. Some users have this happen as many as 3 times per week. Some users never experience the problem.

The only thing I have heard is that there is possibly a problem with exchange 5.5 that may be causing this problem.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,

Chris

My first guess is that this could be an issue with the MTA if you have more than one Exchange server.

Is this UM or VM? Are all of the users with the problem on the same Exchange server? Are they on the same server as the partner Exchange server? Are the delayed messages from internal or external callers?

Can you take a MAPI client and see if the message is actually sitting in the mailbox next time this happens?

Thanks,

Keith

I have to agree that it seems to be something with the MTA, but it would have to be on the Unity side correct?

From what I have read, the message is queued on the in Unity for a period of time and then moved to Exchange. It seems that Unity is holding the message for a long time for some reason.

The Unity and Exchange are on the same box and it is used for voicemail only.

Email is on an entirely different server and they are not using unified messaging.
