Unity 5 installation fails at CUICA - Message Store configuration

Tim Lambrecht

Hello,

I am installing a Unity 5 VoiceMail-Only system on a Cisco MCS 7825 H3 system that has been installed with the Unity Platform 2003 OS and that has an on-box Exchange 2003 SP2 server. At the CUICA I can not go further than the Message Store configuration - I can enter the UnityInstall password and I can select an account to access the Unity Administrator, but when I click "Next" then it just closes.

After rebooting and logging in with the UnityInstall account again, I get a window that tells me "Setup.exe encountered a problem and needed to close". In the Event viewer I get:

Make sure that the UnityInstall account is a domain admin in AD. If it is and still fails, add Exchange Enterprise Servers and/or Exchange Domain Servers and try MSCW again. See if that helps at all.

When you run PW and choose the UnityInstall account it gives it the right permissions. However you need to be logged in with and account that has the permissions to give. Domain Admins should be sufficient as Tommer said.

Thanks for the replies, but unfortunately not yet with the desired result. My PW completed successful and I added the two groups to my UnityInstall account...

Any other suggestions?

Cheers,

Tim

Sounds like an exchange permissions problem to me, did you properly delgate exchange permissions?

Exchange permissions are set according to the instructions after the permissions wizard: both UnityInstall and UnityDirSvc have "Exchange Administrator" rights at the organisation level.

I did an uninstall of Unity (using the Unity Uninstall tool available on www.ciscounitytools.com) and tried reinstalling with the installation DVD's downloaded from the CCO software downloads. I did not run into errors and at first sight everything looks to be working fine.

If all continues to work fine it could mean that we received a DVD with errors in the software box sent to us.
