I have a customer who has agents that do not have voice mail but on the auto attendent they want customers to dial by name. On other PBX's you can record a nane for diretory with out vmail. Is this possible to do in Unity?

Patty,
No, in order for users to be found by dial by name, they'd have to have resident voice mail accounts and have a recorded name in Unity. You can accomplish transferring to non-mailbox extensions by using a Caller System Transfer conversation built-in to Unity, but you don't get recorded name identification - it's done by entering the extension.

Hope that helps,

Absolutely.
Create an Internet Subscriber (these are free and don't use up any licenses). Be sure to set the Internet Subscriber to transfer on the Transfer page and set it to not take a message on the greetings page. Use the Media Master on the profile page to record a voice name. Internet Subscribers do not create an Exchange Mailbox and simply create a contact in Active Directory. You can make up a bogus smtp address since you don't want it to take messages anyway.
