Unity compatibility Offbox Exchange - virtualized servers or SAN

Hello -

Our data center is evaluating moving Exchange 2003 to a virtualized environment with a SAN as the data store. Another model is physical Exchange servers with SAN data store. Obviously we will test Unity in a lab environment first. But I wanted to see if other customers are running this type of configuration with Unity today. Also whether it is a Cisco supported environment. We are running Unity 4.2(1). If Unity is supported, what about the voice connector? I know this is not supported in a clustered Exchange environment so my initial guess is it won't be supported either in a virtualized environment. But always like to check here first :-) Any opinions and advice would be appreciated.

Thanks, Ginger

Hi all -

Bumping this one up too. Still hoping someone with Unity experience in an Exchange virtualized server environment will comment.

Thanks, Ginger

Adding another fresh bump.

Would like to get feedback from someone running Exchange on VMWare specifically, but would love to also see feedback from Cisco on this question.

Hi,

Where and how I can get info/docs for hours to convert to kbps means what is the equivalent of 1121 hrs to kbps ?

Thanks in advance

Unity 4.04sr1, Exchange 2003.

We are running E2003 on physical servers with SAN data storage. No issues related to Unity specifically. Something to look out for is I/O bottlenecks on the SAN side. There are many ways to configure the SAN luns. We have had to reconfigure the luns to become dedicated to exchange servers in order to keep performance acceptable. As to the voice connector, it is not on the SAN data store servers. We have a dedicated stand alone multifunction (no PF or mailstore) Exchange server. No virtualized mailstore servers. We do have one Public Folder server on VMware. We do have some PFs that recieve Unity voice messages. Again, no noticeable issues affecting Unity.
