Is there a way as an admin I can purge a users saved voicemail messages in Unity Connection 8.5 without deleting their entire account and recreating it?
Also is there a way using an admin account I can access a users mailbox and export messages to individual files (.wav, etc.)for storage/playback/evidence purposes?

You can create mailbox quotas and message aging policies.
Administrators do not have access to user mailboxes through any of the GUIs. You could backup and restore individual mailboxes/messages using COBRAS; or, access messages through APIs built into Unity Connection.

Hi Jim,
Just as an FYI ....the Unity Tools are not 3rd party, but rather built and
supported by the Cisco BU responsible for messaging products. My
guess is that most if not all are designed/built by Mr. Lindborg himself
and that is probably why they are so great to use. I have used this tool many
times for many different purposes without issue
I can't imagine running Unity Connection without using this great suite
of tools.

As for the messages, you could use the Web Inbox and
the Save Recording As option to save off messages as .wav files.
Cheers!

Hi Jim,
I'll just add another reference to the great info from Jonathan (+5 "J")
The best way with Unity Connection to delete VM's is with the use of this excellent tool from
the great suite of Unity Tools (** "reset" feature);
Unity Connection Bulk User Delete
For resetting users you have the option of emptying the mailbox, resetting greetings, deleting voice names, resetting passwords, removing private lists and a number of other options you may choose. For installations where the user base “changes over” frequently such as schools this may be a nicer option. This option is also allowed for CoRes installations since it does not involve the removal of user objects from the Connection database.

Thanks for the info. I had heard of that tool, but was hoping there was an easier way than using a 3rd party tool. Even if I could ssh or ftp to the server and delete messages from the command line that would be prefered.
What about exporting voicemail messages without having to use the Cobras backup tool. Is there a way an admin or even a user can export their voicemails from their phone to a PC?

The only thing that concerns me about that one tool is that it is listed as not TAC supported. I have used a lot of the Unity Tools in the past and have been happy with them, but am not sure if I will use the bulk user delete, at least for this app.
Great suggestion on the Web Inbox. I'll have to try that one out.
