Good morning.
can someone verify what I am reading in the admin guide. We were exploring STT in unity, my ?, Is a third party used for all the transcription? and is it limited to 500 characters.
Thank you in advance?

Hi,
Here's the documentation on the feature (SpeechView):
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/connection/8x/administration/guide/8xcucsag177.html
Yes, Nuance is a 3rd party which does the transcriptions. Only the first 500 characters of a message transcription are provided, so longer messages are truncated.
Hope that helps,
Brad

Brad,
Thank you as always..i guess when i read this, and i just started research , i am getting the impression that the message is sent offsite for transcription..i have to be wrong on that assumption.

i think the statement unity sends the audio portion of a voice message to the transcription service, has me baffled.

Yes, it's sent encrypted off-site to Nuance, transcribed and the resulting text is returned and attached to the voicemail in UC.
