I am trying to setup our system to save the deleted VMs for a week, but I can't seem to get it setup right because there's still VMs in the Deleted Items folder that are week or months old. What am I doing wrong? Here's how I have things setup:
Exchange:
Mailbox Store is setup to Keep Deleted Items for 7 days and Keep deleted mailboxes for 30 days. Do not permanently delete mailboxes and items until the store has been backed up is NOT checked.
Message Store Manager:
Flush messages from Deleted Items folder script is activated and set to delete Messages that arrived more than 7 days ago. All message types are checked. The script is Active and set to Runas the UnityMsgStoreSvc account.
I am also backing the system up with Backup Exec with the Exchange Agent.

In your message store manager setup, in the includes folder, have you defined all of the subscribers that the script will be run on? If you do not define anything here, the script will run successfully, but it will not remove any messages from user's deleted box.
Hope this is helpful, if so, please rate post.

Its a little confusing... So in Exchange and Outlook, when you delete an item (mail or fax or voice, whatever) It goes into the "Deleted Items" folder. If the user empties the Deleted Items folder, they *think* it is gone. But your settings show that deleted items are kept for 7 days.
If you were to open up Outlook click on deleted items and go Delete Items, then click tools and select "recover deleted items" These are the items that are kept for 7 days.
If the mail items are backed up, they marked as "archived" and then flushed out of the Exchange logs. Once Exchange logs are marked for archived, they are then deleted when Exchange does a clean up.
HOpe this helps.

We have VMO configuration. I'm just using the OWA interface of the mailbox to view the Deleted Items. I haven't even gone into the "Recover Deleted Items". All of the deleted VMs I'm looking at are still in the Deleted Items folder. Is there any way to set the system up to delete any deleted VMs that are older than 7 days? Thanks!
