Hi All,
We are planning an upgrade for an existing CUCM, CUC, and UCCX to version 11.5. CUCM and CUC are currently in version 8.6 while UCCX is currently in version 9.0. CUCM(2 nodes) and CUC 8.6(1 node) are currently installed on MCS Server while UCCX(HA) are installed on UCS Servers. We have a two BE6K and each has only UCCX installed on it.
This is the upgrade path that we are planning to do:
1. To minimize the downtime, we will fresh install the CUCM version 11.5 Publisher to Primary BE6K and CUCM version 11.5 to the Secondary BE6K and then transfer or replicate the configuration of old CUCM version 8.6 to this newly installed CUCM 11.5. Once done we will migrate or transfer the converted license/upgrade license of CUCM to this newly installed CUCM 11.5.
2. Fresh install the CUC version 11.5 to the Primary BE6K and integrate it to the new CUCM 11.5 with the same integration and configuration from the old version. Add its license from the Product instance of PLM.
3. Performed a major upgrade of UCCX 9.0 to 11.5. Migrate the configuration of CAD to Finesse. Since this existing UCCX is integrated to the old CUCM version 8.6, we will just integrate it to the newly installed CUCM 11.5 by pointing or changing the new IP Addresses of CUCM 11.5 from the UCCX under CUCM configuration using below commands:
set uccx provider ip axl
set uccx provider ip jtapi
set uccx provider ip rmcm
Do you think this upgrade path is possible? Appreciate if you can share your inputs and advise.
Thank you so much.

Hi,

First thing. for restoring the config, it needs to be the same version. The backup you take from a CUCM 8.6 can be restored only to CUCM with the Exact same version. You need to take backup from current CUCM 8.6, install the same version on UCS, do a restore and then upgrade it to 11.5
