Visual Voicemail behaviour in UnityConnection 8.6.1

I am testing a Visual Voicemail deployment using a UnityConnection 8.6.1 cluster , CUCM 7.1.3 and 7962G phones.

Per the "Installation and Configuration Guide for Visual Voicemail Release 8.5 Revised September 2, 2011",  I plan to NOT change the existing enterprise voicemail service and provide VisualVoicemail as an option to specific users.

Everything functions correctly on my test phone but I find when subscribed to both Voicemail and VisualVoicemail, I am only given the option to choose between using the standard TUI interface (Voicemail) and the VisualVoicemail service the first time they select it.  If they select the VisualVoicemail service, they continue to be presented with the VisualVoicemail login screen every time they press the Messages button.

Is this normal behavior?

Is there a way to continue to allow the users to choose the option between the Voicemail and VisualVoicemail services when pressing the Messages key?

Hi Ray,

In the VisualVoicemail service, configured on CUCM, I believe you can add a new parameter and name it unload_midlet_on_exit, then set to 1.   This is a hidden parameter that will allow the VisualVoicemail midlet to be terminated when exiting it.   The down side is that it will then take additional time for the phones to load the next time.

After making the above change, you will need to re-subscribe your phones to that service and reset them.

Kind regards,

Craig
