vmware tools on cucm, unity, expressway, and im&p

What is the best practices about updating or installing VMware tools on the virtual machines of cucm, unity, expressway, and im&p.  As it stand I am running cucm 11.5.1 which shows current tools, expressway c / e as guest managed, unity 11.5 as not running, and im&p 11.5 as current.  Can I install VMware tools on unity or expressway?  I am also running VMware 6.0.

Yes, simply right click on the VM and select to install/update VMware tools. Quick tutorial:
