On CCM 6.01, there is a CSS configuration for Voice mail pilot and the actual voice mail port. How does the CSS work? Is it work like Phone and Line CSS?

Hi -

Yes, but you should create a new CSS and partition that will be used for voicemail ports and MWI turn off/on - here is the configuration guide that discusses - http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/cucm/admin/6_0_1/ccmcfg/b05vmpor.html

What you build depends on your CUCM design, naming standards, dial plan etc. I don't know if this document has been updated for CUCM 6.X yet, but it is the SRND guide that was created for CUCM 4.X - it is excellent - http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/cucm/srnd/4x/42unity.html

Voice mail pilot has a CSS which is only used in one case that is ------> When A calls B, B does not answer and B has configured in his directory number configuration to forward the call to the voice mail with a check mark on "forward to voice mail". Then the voice mail pilot uses the CSS assigned to it to call the Hunt pilot number ( which can be assigned a partition).

------> The provision of the voice mail pilot with a CSS is just to make sure that it is able to call the hunt pilot number, Which can be in any partition.

------> If hunt pilot has no partition, No CSS is needed for the voice mail pilot number.

THIS IS THE ONLY USE OF VOICE MAIL PILOT CSS -----> TO ACCESS THE HUNT PILOT NUMBER IN CASE OF CALL FORWARD TO VOICE MAIL.
