VoIP Dialpeers to use pause for sending digits

Hi,

I just would like to enquire about the scenario where we need to send digits after first beep. Here, I will elaborate further so that people who would like to put their comments can understand.

For example, we would like to send fax to some external user who have a Fax extension not a DID so that there is a Primary number (XXX XXXX ) then beep then 4 digits ( XXXX ) needs to be dialed.  The situation here is, that we need to send it through using our EFax system that will send the digits to voice gateway and then to PSTN.

As we are using SIP Trunk, so we have VoIP dialpeers for connecting to PSTN. The idea is, can we use "pause" within the dialpeer to forward the Fax to the discussed "destination format"

destination-pattern 9.%,T$

so that if fax sends the number as example 95551234,1111 will it be effective to use comma in the dial-peer and to relay the fax. the question is will the fax protocol will support this kind of transmission. ? And the use of comma in this situation with VoIP Dialpeers is possible ?

I would be awaiting for the valuable expert advices.

Thanks

M Taha

Hi,

I just would like to update here;

Dduring my analysis, I tried to use a real example where u have to dial a primary number and then on prompt u have to dial desired Extension and you hears the fax tone then.

so i tested an example with 5555000 1234 the Fax system passes these digits to voice gateway and there i used the digit manipulation to put comma ( pause ) between dialled digits.

here is the translation rule

rule 1 /^9\(.......\) \(....$\)/   /\1,\2/

the rules are getting invoked and it is inserting comma in the translated pattern before it dials out through SIP Trunk.

As we have VoIP Dial Peer for the PSTN, but it didnt go in success. So my question is, does the comma is supported in VoIP Dial-peers and can they be used in betwen the dialed digits or only just in prefix.

Kindly put up ur expert thoughts and advises on this discussion.

You can use my script "speed-dial with pauses" for that. It can be acquired on the website present in my profile.

Hi Paolo,

Here the fax server would be sending all digits i.e 5555000 1234 and that includes the extention as well through the gateway using VoIP Dialpeer. so how the digits would be sagregated and how it would going to send over the extention to the next Fax tone.

And Paolo I would appreciate if you could explain it as it needs some clarification and elaboration of how it would work? Have you tested it for the FAX scenario and not the speed dial.

Awaiting for your positive response.

Regards

M Taha

My script can work for the scenario you've mentioned.
