Hi All,

System Version 8.6.1.20000-109 (Unity connection).

The Virtual Memory utilization always near to the optimal value of 65 %.

How can we bring down the same.

Restarted the Tom cat service which does not help me in this situation.

Removed resigned users mailbox from the server, still we are getting the value around 66%.

Before one month it went above 75% and the device went into a hung state then we have done reboot manually then the device came back which was before 40 days and after the reboot it was only 55% which increased day by day and we are on 66 %.

Need assistance to fix the issue.

Regards,

Shinaj.cm

Hi Shinaj,

If your Hardware has memory, by all means go for increased memory may be from 4G to 8GB and that should definitely help.

At the same time, an inflated memory may mean corrupted database which may be accompanied by high CPU utilization.

Just recently I had a customer who had similar issue but that had turned out to be a database issue.

since in your case the cpu is not being pegged, I shall request you to share the info from the following :-

1. Output from the CLI show status

2. The VMware VM HDD status

3. VMware datastore status

Hi Wilson,

I appreciate your help.

The CPU utilization is below 10 %, so can we neglect the second option.

Current memory is  4096 MBytes.

Kindly suggest.

Hi Wilson,

Waiting for you reply on it to find out the next actions and the server is not a VM mounted one. The model is MCS7825I5.

Regards,

Shinaj cm

Hi Shinaj,

have you tried to restart the server yet?

also, please check what has been the average mailbox size for the users and if there has been any  change in the default voicemail retention policy ?

more over, if you want you may want to raise a TAC SR

however in my opinion, if the restart doesn't solve it, consider the option of rebuilding it.

Also please let us know if have ever abruptly shutdown (eg power loss) the unity connection, if that has ever been the case, it is much easier to rebuild it.

if you are considering the option for rebuilding, please use the COBRAS and no voicemail restores (it will make it easier)

Hi Wilson,

Thank you.

The server was in hung state before 45 days and we restarted it .

We were not able to access its GUI or CLI during that stage but all LED  saying the server was healthy.

Also restarted the tomcat service which is also not bringing the same down.

Diagonse  test for tomcat was successful.

I will check the mail box for the users and will come back to you.

Regards,

Shinaj cm
