IM&P Managed File Transfer Server

I'm playing with a managed file transfer server. Got it working quite easily. But when I look at its filesystem after sending some messages with attachments, I see nothing there.

Is the filesystem just used as a staging area for file transfer? Or are files supposed to persist there?

Files are supposed to stay in the repository so anyone can download them at any time, and unless they've added something recently, there's not even a cleanup mechanism from IM&P to delete those.
