Hi, I am new to 1000v. Just trying to get my head around it. When the 1000v is implemented in the UCS environment, then what does the VEM (an ESXi blade) see the upstream switches as - the FIs or the N5ks? The port-channel (uplink port-group) configuration on the VEM is dependent on how the upstream switches are configured.

Do you have your UCS working in End Host mode?

Yes, we do.

Hi -
x- if you deploy N1Kv on UCS Blade hardware, the port-channel option has to be "mac-pinning" only due to internal Fabric Interconnect architecture.

x- if you deploy N1Kv on UCS C/standalone servers, then port-channel option should be compatible with the upstream switch config.

Michael
