Bug: StorageFPIN on ESXi 8.0 U2 and newer (FIXED)

What is this: Stability issue introduced by new feature in ESXi 8.0 U2, FPIN (Fabric Performance Impact Notifications)

Broadcom KB article 380321: Temporary/transient storage path loss on ESXi 8.0 could result in paths not coming back when using Cisco UCS and NFNIC

As of writing this, the KB article mentions "Cisco will be releasing NFNIC driver 5.0.0.46 that will change the driver behavior so it will use fixed Target IDs". I checked with Cisco about the release date for this driver and was told that the issue is in ESXi, not the NFNIC driver, and any future NFNIC update (e.g. 5.0.0.46) would not be required to address the issue but that the fixed ESXi version will work with all older supported NFNIC drivers. I have asked Broadcom via my account team to have this line removed from the KB article.

Good news: This bug has been fixed in VMware ESXi 8.0 U3e which was released yesterday.

Cisco tracked the bug (minimal info) at: CSCwn00553 ESXi host stats files grow large due to incrementing Target ID causing degraded host performance
