Changing running port on FI 6248 from 1G to 10G possible?

Hi folks,

Our server team have a pair of FI 6248 which both have ports 23 and 24 using GLC-TE connecting to uplink switches (via two different port-channels towards FI-A and FI-B). These, I believe, are all 1/10Gbps ports.

Do changing these transceivers on the same ports, from GLC-TE to SFP-10G-SR, require any reconfiguration or pre-check? These would later be plugged into different uplink switches which support 10Gbps ports.

Thank you very much.

It is all depends on the config, if you hard coded speed to 1GB any where, then you need to shutdown and change the port speed and presenetation, if this is Auto mode, in the maintenance window, remove OLD SFP and insert new 10G-SR  - check is the module SFP recognised,(make sure other end same SFP) - connect the cable and test it.

always suggested to perform in maintenance window, due to Live environment. (make sure new switch support same SFP and regignise the SFP Module before you Plug fibre patch) - also since this Layer 2, worth checking any STP Looops.
