Hi!
We had a broken disk on our cisco ise server which is setup using Raid 10.
Went out with a new disk same size and everything but different brand, Seage instead of Thosiba BUT everything else is indentical.
The disk shows up fine in CIMC, but says Unconfigured Good and don't seem to be part of the Raid 10.
Tried to insert old disk, prepare it for eject, and insert new disk, same!
Between each of these steps I have rebooted the CIMC but it haven't worked.
Also tried to make it a spare no luck.
How can I get the disk in the Raid cluster?
THANKS!!

Unconfigured Good |
A drive that is functioning normally but is not configured as a part of a virtual drive or as a hot spare. |
Not sure if that can help you immediately ; try to change the state of the drive in CIMC or BIOS as in : online or a hot spare , or similar states if available

Hi,

- @JohanKardell Probably best to involve TAC ,

Hi @JohanKardell ,
please take a look at the following links, you may find it useful:

Note: you said "Cisco ISE" in the title, are you using an UCS-C or a SNS ? Which model (for example: UCS C220 M5 or SNS-3655) ?
Hope this helps !!!

ok, so I need to enable my new drive somehow to the Raid?
I guess we have the below command on now then:
This example set the physical drive status auto config mode to unconfigured-good.
Server# scope chassis Server /chassis # scope storageadapter Server /chassis/storageadapter # set-auto-cfg-option unconfigured-good
Tried to set it to global hot spare again but then cimc thinks a bit and then nothing, still unconfigured good.. maybe I'm way off here?
Using SNS-3655-K9
THANKS!

If above is correct, Is this probably because server was not initially configure to accept new disk into the raid then..?

Hi @JohanKardell ,
SNS-36XX is based on a Cisco UCS C220 M5.
Yes, the SAS/SATA HDs or SSDs are hot-swappable components (at UCS C220 M5 - Maintaining the Server - Hot Swap vs Hot Plug).
Yes, the unconfigured-good is the Physical Driver status when you use the Server for RAID Volume (at Cisco UCS C-Series Servers IMC CLI Configuration Guide, Release 4.3 - Managing Storage Adapters - Configuring Physical Drive Status Auto Config Mode for Storage Controllers).
Please try the following commands, they can give some hint of the problem:
Server # scope chassis
Server /chassis # scope storageadapter <slot>
Server /chassis/storageadapter # show log
Server /chassis/storageadapter # show detail
Note: you may find the following article helpful: ISE - What we need to know about SNS / VM.
Hope this helps !!!

Read someone else post and it says I must get into bios and set the disk to online state?
Will look more into this, thanks everyone for their help and taking their time!! If someone has any additional tips I'll be grateful!! but will read some more into this as well / the links from Marcelo.
Again thanks!

To be clear, you backfilled your failed drive with another Cisco PID'd drive?

Maybe I'm a bit lost in translation, but, yeah, we did RMA a old drive and got this one, the Seagate.
