Hello,
Rack mount servers are your standard "pizza boxes" where as blades are designed around the concept of state-less computing.

Rackmount servers can be standalone, or integrated with UCS Fabric Interconnects. In the latter case, the concept of state-less computing also applies .
A UCS domain (based on 2 fabric interconnects) can be made either of Blades (160) only, RackMounts (160) only, or a mix of Blades and RackMounts (160 combined).
