Hi Community,

We have Cisco UCS C220 M3 server with 4xHDD. The Hard drive fault status are blinking amber at the same time. I check the installation and service guide if what does it mean and it says the device is rebuilding. What is the reason why it is rebuilding? Is this normal?

http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/unified_computing/ucs/c/hw/C220/install/C220/replace.html

On the front panel System Status LED it is green.

I checked on the CIMC if there are errors or alarms on the HDDs but it shows Good.

How to futher troubleshoot this issue?

Thank you for your help.

Greetings.

From the CIMC, look at the SEL logs and see if it makes references to any kind of drive failure, timeout, predictive failure, etc.

You'll probably need to open a TAC case and have raid controller logs reviewed to see if you had drive timeout (certain drive firmware versions can have issues).

Thanks,

Kirk...

Hi Kirk,

This is already escalated to TAC support. Thanks for your advise.

But based on the logs i have sent to TAC, there are no issues found on hard drives.

Any idea what is causing the HDD LEDs status why they are flashing amber at the same time?

I tried to reset the CICM controller and also did a graceful shutdown of the server but did not make any change.

Thanks and regards.
